A rare and very unusual vintage Moynat motoring suitcase. Moynat is of course one of the finest historic Parisian luggage makers and this is an attractive and interesting piece of their history. It’s unusual proportions indicate that this was most likely made to fit into the back of an old car. The case is crafted from canvas, with a leather handle and brass hardware, lovely warm hues that make this very pleasing. It has a delightful plaque saying “LES MALLES MOYNAT” and depicting an automobile, a train and a steam liner. The case has two leather straps inside to hold items in place and an attractive paper label in its lid. At some stage a plywood insert has been made and the diamond-shaped label that was inside case has been attached to it. A lovely piece that would make a fine addition to any collection of vintage luggage (or indeed, the back of a classic car!) measurements in cms: W89 D43 H15 |
